Get an independant opinion on your business case, project plan or PID before you initiate your project.

1. Ensure that the benefits anticipated can be realistically realised
2. Reassure yourself that you have chosen the best alternatives available
3. Make sure that nothing obvious, but costly in terms of provisioning, risk management or quality planning and control has been missed
4. Guarantee that exception plans are in place for each risk that has been identified
5. Check resource availability and document promises from your suppliers
6. Check that all documentation is in place for administering the project
7. Verify that all necessary roles, responsibilities and lines of authority have been allocated and agreed
8. Verify that there is an effective communication plan established, documented and agreed between project members

If you are considering using this service, then it is likely that this is the final check you will perform before authorising intiation. It is the project board’s responsibility to establish that all is in order before authority to proceed is given to the PM, so why not take some independant advice as an additional safeguard.
